A Water Feature in the Garden #atozchallenge

April, a door opened to the back garden on a perfect clear cool morning. I can hear the birds in full chorus and the sound of water running in the fountain.  If you have room for a water feature in your garden, simple and small though it may be,  you will introduce an important element to the success and pleasure of your garden.

b3e3321010063ce59d923a74aa77e7beThe sound of running water on a hot day in my North Carolina garden keeps me company as I look for any shade to continue my weeding. Some gardeners are blessed with a pond large enough for fish and beautiful flag iris that love wet feet.

This curved garden bench placed beside a small pond is this writers dream. I can imagine taking myself down the garden path, cup of tea in hand, a book tucked under my arm. The garden is filled with bird song, the tinkling sound of water just below my feet, the garden resting in its glory allowing me to rest as well. I watch as a dragon fly hoovers just above the pond. The sounds of the larger world are muted by the water… peace abounds.

Visit my Pinterest board for more water feature inspiration or perhaps download Greening of a Heart to read sitting by your own water feature.

  1. How beautiful. I can imagine sitting on the curved garden bench and writing or just relaxing. Oh, the life. 🙂
