Dark Green Needled Memories

I love the new Christmas tree this year. All the lights work! This is my Martha Stewart/Stepheny design for 2013. I remember well the Christmas trees of my childhood that filled the center of the music room in the Georgian house where I grew up.  When I discovered David Keig’s poem, it blessed me.  In reading the poem, I remember a little girl coming down the staircase to find her parents waiting by the tree once again.

A Christmas tree

With dark green needled memories

Of childhood dreams and mysteries

Wrapped present-like in front of me.

I glimpse a past wherein I see

The child that then grew into me

                                                     Not forward fast but haltingly

                                                                   David Keig-poet

Your tree is beautiful Stepheny. We wait until the week before Christmas to decorate a tree, but today I’ll be making a grapevine wreath.
