Chicago is a great sports town and during the summer Wrigley Field is the place to be. I’ve been watching the Chicago Cubs play baseball since I was a child. My parents were both great Cubs fans watching games on TV into their old age. We must take time out from our sight seeing, shopping, and oh my, eating, and take the ‘L’ out to the ball park for today’s game.
Harry Caray is gone now, but here he is during a 7th inning stretch leading everyone in song.

Ahem… there are two Major League Baseball teams in Chicago…
I KNEW I was going to get in trouble! Growing up on the North Shore the Sox were just off the edge of my radar screen. I grew up wanting this Chicago team to win, but knew none the the players or traditions. I’ll make it up to you. You know the ‘Captain’s Table’ aboard ship, I am inviting you to sit at my right hand at the ‘Tour Directors’ Table tomorrow night at a Greek restaurant of your choice. You can tell me White Sox stories!
I would be honored. You might remember that both Phil Cavaretta and Ron Santo ended their careers on the South Side…
And these are just the major league pro teams. The Chicago Wolves are a minor league affiliate of the St. Louis Blues. And, both Loyola University and DePaul University have excellent basketball teams, and Northwestern has football and basketball. I think the University of Chicago has a football club, too. I think they used to play polo in the National Guard Armory on Chicago Avenue, and there are more than a couple of curling rinks.
We never talked about that other baseball team! Living in Chicago is living in sports nirvana!
Michael Jordan at UNC is how I think of him.
