SFH Favorite Collected Quotes – Sarah Dessen

“Some things don’t last forever, but some things do. Like a good song, or a good book, or a good memory you can take out and unfold in your darkest times, pressing down on the corners and peering in close, hoping you still recognize the person you see there.”
― Sarah Dessen, This Lullaby

I believe the girl I once was remains within me, and the memories of her have kept me company all these years. At times I catch a glimpse of her in my children and grandchildren; the exquisite experience of my mother’s voice behind me echoing beyond.

Sarah Dessen (June 6, 1970, Evanston, Illinois) is an American writer who lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She writes young-adult fiction. Born in Evanston myself, and having lived in Chapel Hill for 18 years, I’m sorry our paths did not cross. I don’t read YA, but if this particular quote is any indication of her insight, I know I would be enriched by her friendship. I thank her for this collectable quote.

Lovely quote, Stepheny. What is it about Evanston that creates writers?
