WELCOME TO THE #CHALLENGE
This is your invitation to ‘FOLLOW ME’ throughout the #Challenge and beyond. I would enjoy your company.
Once upon a glorious time, I was in Italy on a wonderful garden tour. I have imaged returning, particularly to Pienza and Lucca, to stay for an extended period of time. I was able to go back through Robert Davis, one of the main characters in the new novel, Facing East. Writing about Pienza let me live life twice.
Wandering on, Robert talked less, giving her space to listen and breathe in the Renaissance architecture, the small shops, and the smell of the Pecorino cheese. It was the narrow streets in Pienza, full of medieval nooks and crannies, that Katherine loved, taking in the food shops and trattorias, and the interesting artisans’ workshops.
Katherine finally commented. “This is unbelievable, no wonder you love it here. Facing East
Thank you for taking me there!
You would love Pienza, but after the research for the book, have settled on Lucca for my imaginary move.
I also enjoy gardening and would love to see gardens in Europe, but have never been there. Maybe one day.
Next best thing to garden tours are the beautiful books that have been written about famous gardens…Sissinghurst in England, Great Dixter, Rosemary Verey’s garden, Barnsley House. Be careful, however, one book leads to another. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I write about gardening and gardeners on this blog amongst other things. Come back and visit. I’ll hear the garden gate click open.
