X – Marks the Spot – Home From The Bookstore – Where To Put The Books?

WELCOME to the letter X and to this year’s theme: BOOKSHOPS

With nary a bookstore to write about for the letter X, I fell back on the saying, “X marks the spot,” which led me to wonder where you put the books you happily lug home from the bookstore? There is never enough shelving in my house.

The image on the right makes me laugh. Is this where I am headed? Below are a few great ideas other people have designed to solve the wonderful problem of owning too many books. It takes some creative thinking to keep making room for more! On Pinterest, I pin ideas that catch my eye even if most of them are too ambitious for my budget. Sorry X isn’t about a bookstore, but enjoy these great solutions for shelving.

I love all those places to put books. I especially like the under the stairs ones. Too bad we don’t have stairs!

  2. I like the one at the end of the kitchen. In fact I like the whole kitchen.

  3. trishafaye says:

Oh my goodness…I want them ALL! Especially the under the stairs ones. Of course, we’re in a one story and have no stairs. But still…

And I LOVE your ‘X’ post – a perfect accompaniment to your A to Z theme.

  5. Very clever book storage ideas. Living on a boat, we don’t have a lot of space for books and use Kindles far more often these days. Although, an ebook can never really replace holding a real book in your hands and turning real pages.

    • I LOVE my kindle. When my husband first offered to give me one for Christmas, I said, no, no. Several years later, I gave it a try and have never looked back. I don’t have to find shelf space for ALL the books it stores, and it’s wonderful for travel as you know. It is the best of both worlds, books in hand and books on my kindle.

My favorite is the pullout under the stairs. I HATE dust on books, so I keep them undercover (lol, at my almost pun!).

Never enough shelf space for my books. At the moment the majority of my books are stacked in my closet or in piles on the floor. I love some of the ideas here, I just need the house to implement them!

  8. But don’t you find, the more places you have for books… the more you will acquire. LOL I do find it’s easier for me to read on my kindle and have tried to stop the feeling that I have to have and keep the book after reading it. So far, I haven’t found myself re-reading them. I do have a few piles on the floor and keep meaning to find them a home.
